Fireworks Training School To Be Held April 1st, 2017

The 2017 Shooter’s Training School
 
presented by the Hurricane Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday April 1st, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
The school will be held at the Hurricane Volunteer Fire Department, 2716 Main Street, Hurricane, WV, 25526.
 
The purpose of the Shooter’s Training School is to educate people about the proper techniques for the handling, storing, and transportation of fireworks, as well as the proper way to set up, shoot, and tear down a display. 
 
Also, NFPA 1123 will be discussed, as well as a wide variety of related topics. Attendees will have hands on experience with setting up equipment for the evenings demonstration shoot. Hand firing of shells will be offered for those who wish to have that experience. Long pants and long sleeve shirts & solid shoes/boots (no flip flops) are required for those working with fireworks. Hard hats, eye protection and hearing protection will be provided.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office will offer the outdoor Pyrotechnician test. The test fee is $ 40 and must be paid by check payable to WVSFM.
Participants must notify Dave Kelley by 3/30/2017 so tests can be provided. A valid ID is required to handle fireworks and to test.
