​Consumer Fireworks Permit Types:
  • ​Registered MWDI Permit (Manufacturer/Wholesaler/Dealer/Importer)
  • Permanent Retail Sales Location Permit
  • Temporary Retail Sales Location Permit 
  • Sparkler & Novelties Retail Sales Permit 

 

Registered MWDI Permit:

This permit applies to any person or entity engaged in the manufacturing, wholesaling, distribution, and importing of consumer fireworks, display fireworks, articles of pyrotechnics, special effects, and/or explosive materials in this state must be properly registered with the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Permanent Consumer Fireworks Retail Sales Location Permit:

This permit applies to buildings or structures affixed to a foundation on a site and having fixed utility connections that is intended to remain on the site for more than 180 consecutive calendar days.

 
A separate application is required for each location in which consumer fireworks are sold. 

Approved applicants will be issued a permit that is valid till March 31st of the next calendar year.

Temporary Consumer Fireworks Retail Sales Location Permit:

This permit applies to a building or structure not meeting the definition for permanent structure. When applied to electrical power and wiring: it shall pertain to locations where electrical​ service is in use or in place for a period of 90 consecutive calendar days or less. Examples of temporary structures include tents, stands, shanties, etc. ​

 

A separate application is required for each location in which consumer fireworks are sold. 


Approved applicants will be issued a permit valid for 90 Days. 


A Temporary Sales location may not obtain more than two (2) consumer firework sales permits in a year.

Sparkling Devices and Novelties Registration - Retail Sales Location


“Sparkling devices” means “ground or handheld sparkling devices” as that phrase is defined under APA 87-1, sections 3.1.1 and 3.5.

 

“Novelties” means that term as defined under APA standard 87-1, section 3.2; but shall not include toy pistols, toy caps, toy canes, toy guns or other similar devices.
